The Sound Of Safety

Ultrasonic RangeA new ultrasonic gas leak detector for the petro-chemical industry was launched by Groveley Detection at the ONS 2008 show in Stavanger, Norway.

Groveley reports "extremely favourable" response to its new GDU INCUS ultrasonic gas leak detector for the offshore and onshore petrochemical sites.

Groveley's Nigel Lock said: "Visitors were impressed by its speed of response and immunity to extraneous factors - the unit doesn't need field calibration and can be submerged without any ill effects.

"The GDU INCUS is complementary to existing types of gas detection and is designed to detect the 35% of hydrocarbon leaks which currently go undetected*."

The detector is unaffected by bad weather and detects the specific ultrasonic sound of a gas leak. It uses unique ceramic-cased piezo sensors, and unlike conventional gas sensors, does not have to be within the leaking gas cloud.

The GDU INCUS is a flameproof E. Ex d device suitable for use in SIL3 systems and is the latest addition to a range of Groveley ultrasonic gas leak detectors which includes intrinsically safe E. Ex i versions.
