Hazard detection specialist Groveley Detection has supplied flame and gas detectors for the Buzzard field development in the North Sea, operated by EnCana (UK) Limited.
Groveley supplied detection field equipment to power and automation technology group ABB to interface with the integrated process shutdown and fire & gas and emergency shutdown systems on Buzzard.
All Groveley´s 194 Micropack visual flame detector cameras were supplied with 18 Simrad GD-10PE´s to monitor the turbine´s exhausts and four aspirator systems to monitor air intakes.
Each of Groveley´s aspirators has three channels that incorporate a hydrocarbon gas detector, smoke detector and hydrogen sulphide detector, all connected to a probe fitted across the air intakes to the control rooms and safe areas.
The hydrocarbon detectors are Simrad GD-10Ps which have a one-second speed of response.
The Micropack FDS-101 detector provides local video data and fire alarm to the integrated control and shutdown system to give the operator full display and alarm handling facilities.
