Hazard detection company Groveley Detection has bought a new Climatic Test Chamber to examine its innovative gas and fire detection equipment in the harshest of conditions.
The state-of-the-art Vötsch chamber is able to test Groveley's own fire and gas detectors at temperatures from -70°C to 180°C - which at the bottom end is colder than the Arctic. Typical chambers currently on the market only reach -40°C.
Christchurch-based Groveley Detection will use the environmental chamber to prove the suitability of its on-site manufactured products, which are intrinsic to providing safety to people and plant in extremely harsh working conditions.
Managing director Robert Bennet said: "The purchase will lead to the creation of a significant number of job opportunities in the foreseeable future.
"Environmental simulation determines a product´s ability to perform in a specific environment.
"It is often used to prove the integrity of a product, verify manufacturers' claims regarding operational limits, determine realistic warranty terms and prepare procedures on proper and safe operation."
Groveley's products are often used in extreme environments such as Kazakhstan and Russian oil and gas fields where temperatures can dip to -50°C.
For companies who want to test equipment in extreme conditions but either don't have their own system or need extra capacity, Groveley Detection is now offering the chamber for hire - for details contact Darren Rose, engineering manager on (01202) 483497.
