Simtronics ASA, the Norwegian fire and gas safety company, has announced the launch of the GD1, a new generation toxic open path gas detector.
Compared to traditional detectors the GD1 offers:
- Faster detection
- Reduced maintenance
- Greater area of coverage
Groveley Detection, the UK distributor for Simtronics, is pleased to add the GD1 to its growing range of fire and gas detection products.
The GD1 is ATEX certified for hazardous area use and offers failsafe, reliable and robust hydrogen sulphide detection (H2S) for applications such as petrochemical installations offshore and onshore, in power plants or waste water treatment plants.
"The GD1 represents cutting edge gas detection technology. The detector delivers improved safety and reliability compared to traditional detectors. It is designed for safety and made for life," said Dr. Eliot Sizeland of Simtronics.
The GD1 is ideal for personnel safety monitoring as it is able to detect 5ppm hydrogen sulphide gas clouds. The detector response time is considerably faster than MOS or electrochemical detectors. Furthermore, the GD1 offers real cost savings within two years: Using a single transmitter/receiver pair, the detector covers distances of up to 100 metres. Installation and maintenance costs are reduced as fewer devices are needed to cover the same risk.
The GD1 can be used in a SIL II system without the need for voting and needs only annual checking.
As with all Groveley Detection's products, the GD1 is designed for early detection of hazardous events. It is built to work safely in extreme areas and withstand the harshest environments onshore and offshore.
