Ultrasonic Pressurised Gas leak Detection

Ultrasonic/ Acoustic gas detectors instantly detect gas leaks operating over a wide dB range by 'hearing' the sound generated by escaping gas at ultrasonic frequencies rather than responding to specific values of LEL or ppm.

The technology is impervious to wind, fog or gas dilution and is therefore very reliable in outdoor installations.

Gas Cloud Doesn't Need to Reach Detector

It is the only form of gas detection where the gas doesn't have to reach the detector:

  • 'Hears' the leak in any weather condition
  • Minimises the number of detectors required
  • Immediate response
  • Covers a wide detection range of 20m or more
  • Detects any pressurised gas leak

Our intrinsically safe and flameproof sensors use the proven ultrasonic method of gas detection. These sensors will detect gas at ‘the speed of sound’.

Support Services

If you are planning to use ultrasonic gas leak detectors, it as advisable to first carry our an ultrasonic mapping survey to monitor background ultrasonic noise levels and determine best positioning of the detectors.

For more information on the ultrasonic mapping surveys we provide please go to our ultrasonic mapping services page.

GDU-01

GDU-01 ImageThe GDU-01 is an Omni-Directional intrinsically safe airborne leak detector designed for detection of pressurised gas leaks. The detector responds to the ultrasonic sound generated when leakage occurs from an area of high pressure to low pressure. A pressure difference of only 2 bar or above is required.

Compliments Existing Gas Detection Methods

The GDU-01 is designed to compliment existing gas detection methods and has a large area of detection coverage and an instantaneous speed of response.

The GDU-01 uses piezo-electric sensing technology to provide high sensitivity and levels of immunity to environmental elements.

GDU-Incus

GDU-IncusThe GDU-Incus is the latest product to expand our range of ultrasonic pressurised gas leak detectors. Utilising an advanced form of piezo-electric sensor technology, the GDU-Incus incorporates four independent sensing heads designed to allow unobstructed sensing and a vast detection range.

  • Explosion proof /flame proof certification
  • Works in the harshest of environments from -50° to +85°C
  • Incorporates a unique integral self testing and cleaning system

Unlike any other detector, this system means each of the sensor heads can be tested with a true pressurised gas leak to simulate actual site detection capability. The self cleaning feature removes any build up of contaminants such as sand, oil or dust - reducing the level of maintenance required.
